Description

for the halloween contest over at #James-x-Lily

i wonder what it would be like for a wizard to have his first halloween. for lily and james it would mean they can't go to party's, and the baby is too young to trick or treat yet. so maybe they just curl up in bed and play with three month old baby harry on a cold october night.

i think the matching outfits were james' idea XD haha

and i James isn't fat! he's wearing a baggy shirt!

GASP! I've never written a critique before! Lol You get to be my very first!

I really love the vision of this... I love artists who can take something and mold it into something else on a 2D playing field. It's like M theory in physics which states that all 5 variations of the string theory are really just 5 different ways of looking at the universe. Pardon my crazy physics rambles, but that's just how I like to think of it. This is why I gave your vision the highest rating, because it shows an interesting way of thinking that I feel is a very valuable characteristic to have. Also, I feel your vision was very well portrayed.

Unfortunently I had to mark your originality down just because I did see the HHr version of this picture and also because many artists use reference pics such as the one mentioned in the comments. Plus, there are quite a few pictures out there of Lily and James with baby Harry! However, you still marked 2 1/2 stars because of the Halloweenyness of this piece. It's almost like this is what would've happened that Halloween night had Harry not been the only one to survive a certain He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

Technique got you brownie points because I love the colour contrasting and the appeal of the skin. On a colour wheel blue and orange are across from each other and there for go well together. Plus, the combination makes the piece whimsical and fun. It's a cute mood for a young family! I also like the appearance of the subjects' figures and the placement of the subjects. Harry was especially well done. However, I wish you would've paid more attention to the lighting on James and Lily's faces. Though your attempt is clearly visible, it almost feels out of place on the piece for some reason.

Lastly, the impact lost two stars because I felt like you could've make their faces more emotional, thus showing more tenderness between the three. I think you could've made James' eyes might lighter with a bigger flicker of light reflecting off of them, as it would help to show his inner child... IDK. It just felt like PAZAZ without the ZAZ, you know?

I do hope you keep creating more lovely art!

Much love,
